Roc Nation has been around for over SIX years and they are YET to launch a successful album campaign for any of their artists. J Cole's album came out and you'd think the label would market him better like a Kendrick or Drake, he's always an afterthought and he has a big following. They don't know how to maneuver the market and aren't as aggressive as other major labels when it comes to album rollouts. Don't give me the "its all Rih" crap I'm not some deluded ATRL member that doesn't have any knowledge of how a label works or how the industry runs. Roc Nation, despite being controlled by a powerful (Jay Z) is a bunch of young execs that are mostly fresh to the game. They don't have the resources and tenacity of a Interscope or a Columbia. They need a LA Reid or some powerful A&R that can really develop an album campaign. Rihanna is an artist, even though she's pretty powerful she doesn't have that clout. Adele will sell millions but who do you think helps her to market that album? The label. Who backs her? The LABEL. Who spends money making sure that radio is on board with everything? THE LABEL.

That has nothing to do with this case though. We don't have an album. We've never had an album. Not when she released FFS, AO or BBHMM. It isn't only until now (late Oct,Nov) that we can kind of strongly assume that it is finished. We were all just saying last week when Kuk was posting pics that 'maybe the album is finally being mixed and mastered!!!' How can a label start any kind of album campaign without a finished album?? Or if concepts for the album are being changed as Rihanna sees fit? What the hell are they supposed to market? What album??

Imagine if they did a full blown launch in Jan when FFS or even AO was released. And here we are months later. They would have lost

I don't think that is killing or will kill her career though? Whatever issues need ironing out b/w them is probably technical (making free albums count, $$$, advertising, etc).

The whole point which u clearly MISSED. Is that those songs wouldn't have even been officially released without an album deadline set that she has to meet. Why release a single for an album that is nowhere near completion? What label does that? Why release a lead single without an album , theres no concept set in play everything is all over the place. Roc Nation should have anticipated this and advise her.. like listen.. let FFS do its thing. Come back with a bigger single that will launch the album. Yet they dropped songs in hopes that they would stick (BBHMM, American Oxygen). As a label they are very lackluster and don't really know what they are doing. This is Rihanna's first time really managing herself so its almost like a blind leading the blind situation. The whole era So far just screams unprofessional. Nothing is thought out.

It's always a mess with her when she's on tour, isn't it? I can't even imagine what a mess ANTi will be when she's on tour

Like, there's no point of releasing out of nowhere because we have already three singles, and James Joint (interlude) & the album cover. Just set the release date, and then drop the album like a normal singer. Plus, she failed doing what she said: "everything will hit you at once", it didn't actually, Rihanna. We have been waiting for it since one year while you kept on releasing singles, and perform some of them along with the release of the album cover.

Now Adele, she actually hit us/atrl at once.

But I remember the Navy were against them because they were milking the **** of her, and making her work so hard. Plus, they were against the yearly releases, too.
