I don't think it'll be as long as people think. Even when she was pregnant last year she still told a radio station that it would be a couple years before the next album (which would be sometime next year).
I think the reason why she made it sound like it would be so long was because she wanted people to stop questioning her about the next album, since most were already expecting a new album shortly after the Grammys last year. Plus she probably just wants to spend a little time with her kid before she goes back on the road to tour, etc.
And she was supposed to go back on tour after the Grammys last year but found out she was pregnant so it was scrapped.
And 21 was never supposed to be happy. Even before she started work on it she told an interviewer it would be a break-up album.
