I didn't listen to mainstream music or the radio. I remember hearing the song on the radio (Bad Romance) on the car ride back from some long trip from somewhere and I really liked it so I watched the video on Youtube right when I got home. Within like the first 30 seconds of the video I was instantly drawn into who she was. I then listened to some of her other songs and loved EVERY SINGLE ONE so I bought her albums etc. etc. etc.

I am kind of getting over Ke$ha.... her music is ok.... but its kind of meaningless and uninspiring.
My REAL faves are the ones highlighted in blue imo + Coldplay. Everyone else hasn't really inspired me or has changed my life in some way.

Kanye is considered mainstream where I'm from. You should have seen all of the articles saying he ruined SXSW by bringing the mainstream.

What is "meaningful music?" As far as I'm concerned, if music is able to evoke emotion and connect with an audience who finds something in it, it has some meaning. In that sense, I would say pop music succeeds in some manner.
