For solid '00s pop, probably All for You, assuming you can stomach her three sexy whispering tracks in a row near the beginning.

R&B? Damita Jo. '90s pop&B? Janet. '80s? Definitely RN1814.

They're all pretty accessible tbh. She is a pop star. She doesn't have an Erotica or an American Life. Just some albums are better and more focused than others.

I feel like janet. has a decent sampling of what makes her so great. It can drag just a tad at the end, but it is extremely varied and kind of combines her past strengths and hints at her direction for future albums. But honestly if you just want to get into Janet in general just listen to Number Ones and then pick the songs you like the best and go to the album or albums that have those songs, that is how I did it tbh. And just as a general rule avoid her first two albums and her two most recent albums when you are starting out. You might find some songs you like on those and they all have redeeming moments, but you want Jimmy and Terry productions and those four albums won't help you appreciate Janet's artistry.
