Her fans (and blog readers, etc.) are the only ones that know she's releasing music. The general audience doesn't know that. When they hear new music, they won't know when it was first released, they'll just jam to it then and (maybe) buy it on iTunes.
It's not like she went on TV setting the date in stone or even online, she technically never said what was happening on the 20th. So basically, although it slightly killed the hype on here and on blogs, there was really no harm done. I will admit though, she needs to HURRY up with he song. She's starting to lose longtime fans now.
