Okay, so I finished listening to it.
My problem with Azealia is her lack of presence. That's the problems I have with the first two tracks. I'm bopping to them, but that's solely because the beats are hot. Azealia and her rapping, on those tracks, aren't present. All I'm hearing is a hot beat and some girl talking. Probably because her flow is stagnant; it's monotone and uninteresting, unchanging, no variability. This is the same issue I had with Jumanji and other Azealia tracks. IMO the beats overshadow her.
However, Liquorice and 212 don't have this problem. Earlier this year, 212 and Liquorice were my favorite tracks. Those two alone are enough to make me a fan. On both of these songs, her flow and delivery are interesting and captivating. I loved the original Liquorice track, and the updated version sounds even better.
"You know I'm lookin' for these n*ggas if these n*ggas is rich"
And 212 is still one of my most favorite tracks of the year. Her best song hands down.
