You can't not agree with an entire country, that would essentially make you racist.
You can disagree with policies, wars or human rights but not the country itself.

Internet Privacy
Government Involvement?
View Personal Information?
Emails, Facebook, etc.?

I believe that the government should be somewhat involved on what goes on the internet but should not be allowed to view personal profiles for bad reasons.

If its going to help prevent a pedo from preying on little kids, acts of terrorism or things of that nature, I think the government should definitely monitor internet use. But I don't think they should monitor every single thing people do online, they should just have some words or sites that'll send a trigger to investigators...if that makes any sense lol

I totally thought this topic was internet PIRACY. I typed out a hella long summary about how the music industry could be saved, full with sources and everything.
Thank God I double-read before posting.

no, the government shudnt have any control over the internet...terrorist dont send emails to each other & if intelligence was tip-top there wouldn't be many security issues, and pedos can be controlled by better parenting...it'll kill the fun that comes with the internet right along with stopping the bad

Everyone must be educated on how to self-impose privacy over the cyberworld so to regulate any possible proliferation of personal information that might be used as a tool for maltreatment of another person. It's all about self-discipline and being responsible enough to gauge the risks of exposing too much of yourself via the internet.

Depending upon certain situations, it needs to be intervened, otherwise, the Government should have the necessary controls already with highly trained/classified people using them.

But don't we sacrifice our privacy all the time?
If I decline a search by the airport security, I can't fly.
If I decline a decline a sobriety test on the road, I'll get taken to the police station.
If I decline a drug test at work, I'll get fired.
Seems like checking privacy at the door is a pretty normal thing, to me at least.

Yeah, but I still think we'll see Japan's place on the world stage recede over the next few decades. Not only is their population in decline, but international interest in Asia has moved over to China.

In all those cases, though, there's the risk of you putting other people at danger. And is your choice to drink and drive or to take drugs really an issue of "privacy"?

I dunno , then the governemnt would have far to much power over the internet. I believe that would supress alot of what we can view and alot of what we could be able to do. Also then it would be monitered by them , there goes all privacy we had left.

But by owning a computer other people are in danger, too. I could EASILY hack into someone's email account, or website. I could also steal person information (identity theft) which could seriously damage someone's life.Wireless keystroke software has made it too easy to steal people's information. I think by going with those examples, declining a "no right to internet privacy" should result in losing your internet access. You can't really have privacy and internet, just like you can't have privacy and fly.

People need to understand internet privacy does NOT exist. No matter how much the government says that we have the rights to our privacy, when it all boils down, they really have the power and they can do anything they want.
EVERYTHING you do on the internet is a PERMANENT record FOREVER and can be traced back. I was just talking to a friend the other day about sites like Twitter and Facebook and how stupid some people are because they put ALL their business out there. And I mean EVERYTHING. So don't get mad when your job employer looks you up and sees you tagged in those pictures at that party acting a fool or catches you on some "questionable" sites.

This.
I don't think 99% of the population use the internet to commit a crime, so I feel there we don't need to be monitored that much. What I do online is my business, no one else's. I think that, maybe if you search certain terms on Google or something, it should monitor what sites you visit next (like if I googled "how to make a bomb", "10 year old nude", etc). But then again, if every single thing you do is monitored by the government, there's alot of room for abuse of power. How do I know I'm not going to be singled out for looking at a specific site they don't agree with? Or if I'm googling local protests or something, you know? Maybe I've just watched a few too many conspiracy shows.
And I agree about Twitter/Facebook/Myspace/etc. People do put way too much information. I noticed that several friends-of-friends that I don't even have added on my Facebook, when I view their profile, I have access to their phone number, what city they live in, the things they post on their wall, etc. So it'd be easy for someone to track the person down, or even stalk them, and that scares me. That's why I'll always stick to posting nothing but song lyrics on my Facebook.
