Also, for some people, being a vegan is way too expensive. For instance, in my area, cow's milk is half the price of the cheapest dairy-free milk and sometimes, people can't just afford to shell out the extra just to be vegan.

I completely understand where you're coming from. I'm not a vegan, but a vegetarian. The two reasons why I'm not a full on vegan is the cost and taste.
At the store there's an aisle full of organic, animal free products. Everything from food to supplements to bathroom products to cleaning products etc etc.
One day I went to the store and wrote down the important products and their prices and compared it to regular food and products.
For instance the cheapest bottle of shampoo is $13.45 for such a small bottle. I can get a bottle of head and shoulders for $5.40 for such a bigger bottle. This is for me and my partner. Which one am I going to use?
Organic, animal free toothpaste is $9.23 for such a small bottle. A regular bottle toothpaste is $4.50
Those are just some examples.
My favourite food is pasta, it's the only food that I can eat everyday for the rest of my life. The price for vegan pasta is ridiculous. Don't get me started on vegan snacks. So not worth the price for the quality of what you get.
I of course but fruits and veggies which aren't that expensive at all. But the lower carbs/calories you intake, that more hungrier I am. Much hungrier. Same with my partner. So we have to buy more food. People say oh drink more water, drink more water. Drinking water fills me up for literally two seconds and that's it.
So all these reasons, are the reasons why I would never consider going vegan unless I can find a job that pays ALOT of money and hire a chef.
