Rihanna: 2007 (Because it was when I discovered Umbrella / It was also the first time I was obsessed with a popgirl + I loved her gothic, punk look too. perfect aesthetic....she has grown musically and I prefer a lot of her new stuff over the GGGB sound but it's just the nostalgia of that era and that song that get to me and make me vote for 2007.)
Gaga: 2013 (I finally got the hype and everything around this woman. Couldn't appreciate her with her TF and TFM eras because I was a prude and super holy lol (but i remember low key stanning Telephone and Alejandro's mv's as well as some album tracks from TFM). Hated the Born This Way era (now I appreciate some album tracks tho) but then ARTPOP came and I was so obsessed by her insanity and her creative outburst. that era was her being out of control and for some reason I got hooked because of the total freedom she expressed.)
Lana: 2011 ( I remember I discovered Video Games when it only had like 5k views and I kept showing it to everyone I knew
I wasn't obsessed with the song as much as I was obsessed with her at that point. then i discovered older tracks and finally she released the album Born To Die and I was floored by her sound and lyrics. it felt so right and warm.)
Shakira: I loved her as a child but was not obsessed because I was not a huge music fan in general as kid. all I knew is that she was gorgeous and she danced amazingly. I also remembered friends and family members from my Moroccan side being super proud of an artist with arab descent smashing globally with her Arabian sound and dance moves lol so technically she's always been a part of my life. But ya looking back on her career now that I have a much more critical mindset I'd have to say my fav Shakira year is either 2001 or 2005. Also really loved 2010 tho.
Taylor: 2015 ( I remember my transition into a Taylor stan began with Ronan (the charity single). I watched a tv telethone and Taylor performed that song and for the first time ever I actually had tears drop down my face due to a song. Before that music would touch me and would move me until I get watery eyed but I never full on cried like that (espcially not due to a song by a damn popgirls!
). then I appreciated songs like Begin Again, Safe & Sound and Red (the song) ...but then 1989 came out...I remember I HATED SIO but then I heard Blank Space and then the album tracks...instantly I fell in love with Style and then Wildest Dreams, then Clean etc etc....I started re listening to her past albums and I found out that I actually really love Speak Now. (bonus info: I was obsessed with "Teardrops on my guitar" as a kid but I never admitted it to myself for some stupid reason lol)
