Lana at least was big at one point. Charli's career never took off, even after Boom Clap. I still fail to see how they ended Marina's career
|
Marina's album was up for pre-order over MONTHS. Of course she had a nice opening week and dropped out of the BB200 after 5 weeks. This is not an upgrade for her.
Lana at her lowest is still leagues above Marina at her very best in quality and sales.
Marina had her peak with TFJ.

According to the critics Honeymoon is Lana's best album
I don't agree with them though. Born To Die

Nope, Honeymoon is her most critically acclaimed album. UV + BTD >>> though.

I agree w/ Lana. I can listen to her first album w/o skipping tracks and on the latest ones, I only like 2 or 3 from each and hate everything else

BTW > TF(M). But hey, everyone's entitled to their (wrong) opinion.

BTW > TF. TFM > BTW.
BTW has some of her best songs but loses in consistency compared to TF(M). It's kind of subjective on what you find to be "filler" though.

But outside of Maroon 5 they can still put out good projects but just can't seem to top the debut.

why Alicia?
Element of Freedom is her best to me. "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart" is the best song she's ever made. idg why ppl shade it so much.

Sadly, I have to agree with Lana. I love all of her albums (Honeymoon is a slight decrease tho), but BTD is her only album that feels good from the first track to the very last, every song is perfect, counting the bonus tracks too.
On Paradise there's "Blue Velvet" + "Yayo";
On Ultraviolence there's "Other Woman" + "Guns and Roses";
And on Honeymoon there's "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" plus the album as a whole is a decrease.

I actually agree that there's no bad song on BTD per se. It's what I would consider very easy listening. The reason I put UV above it is because it's highs far outweigh BTD's highs. Sure, there are a few duds such as The Other Woman and Guns and Roses but the album as a whole is just incredible.

Since when does the GP determine quality?
In that case, Katy Perry would have to be a better artist than Björk.
And just for the record, the sales for HM are over 600k now and for UV between 1.5-1.6 million,

She may not be a better artist, but she sure as hell has better music.

She clearly doesn't.
And this is pretty much puts the end to ATRL members talking about quality music.
