It's not that simple. You can't just assume that because someone is stuck living in the ghetto that they are not working their ass off to get out. That's an entirely unrealistically optimistic way to look at life, and unfortunately life generally doesn't work like that. Just because there are minorities who got themselves out doesn't invalidate the experience of the ones who are still trying.

i think a lot of wealthy people get there one of two ways: luck or education. a lot of people work plenty hard but they don't get the same opportunities as others, or they don't work in the right way to reach that (by doing things like not making enough connections) but still work really hard. it all comes down to who you know and timing. the other way is education, getting a good college degree and working both with the credentials and the skills you learned from that, but college is seriously expensive and nobody from those areas has enough money to pay for it.
