I think your definition of artist is a little narrow. :shrug: Britney may not literally write most of her music, but that doesn't mean she isn't creating something special and unique. She turns it into something that most people could not. It's all in the presentation.

I think they all took to her like Britney fans tend to take to Madonna. It's a form of flattery and respect because she is so comparable to Tina. I'm sure many of them don't enjoy her music but they know her and what she has done for music, oh and then there is this.

Their list may have a lot of what Rolling Stone had on theirs but add some fresh flavor in it. I'm pretty certain Michael, Beatles, Madonna, Stevie, Aretha and the usual suspects will end up on the list. From this particular generation, I think only a few people are capable of making it: OutKast, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Alicia, etc. maybe. We may even have a few relics from past decades: Lauryn Hill, maybe Sinead O'Connor for the shocker?

I hope they don't miss some of the artists from past decades. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame may be a good tool to look at as well.
