Black as a color is generally more detracting, which is why people like goths where black clothes. Monsters/villains are portrayed as darker scarier colors, not like Care bears or bright happy colors like pink/white/yellow.
So when a child is asked "which one is evil", most people will naturally go to a dark color.

The doll is a present, a toy they own that they didn't like because it was unusual so their reaction is vastly different from how they would react if it was a person. It's not even remotely the same thing

Yes language has somehow made black revolve around everything that's bad. Dunno if it was done purposefully or not. Black cat, black sheep, black mail etc. But why did it get that way. Our skin isn't even black. Why am i associated with these things when my skin is brown.

And why was it unusual? --------------> HINT: the black skin ![eek](http://www.atrl.net/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/eek.gif)
How does that not relate to a black person? Is the skin not the same. If the argument is crying because they have never seen a doll with that skin, how is it too far a stretch to think they would react to never seeing a person with that skin and crying?

There isn't an association except in name. Black and white are poor ways of describing race, but they've stuck for centuries.

I agree. I don't know who came up with the "race colors", but the term black "x" does make that group sound "bad" if you hadn't met a black person. For instance if you heard the term "pink person", most would likelier have a favorable impression.

It's real simple. White people, if you don't want to run the risk of your kids behaving like this, then make the effort to surround them with dolls of different races from the jump. Those girls probably reacted that way because they've been brought up to believe that every doll they will get should and will be white. So, of course, getting that black doll must have been shocking to them.

Honestly I don't even think that's they didn't like it. They probably wanted a different type of doll (like a Barbie) but their mom gave them the wrong one so she could record this and go viral ![deadbanana](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/bananas/deadbanana2_zpsd45da7d4.gif)

Well duh? But your point was not that there are more white dolls than black ones(that would've been more rational and accurate) but you're accusing them of racism which most likely isn't the case for the reasons I explained. They received something they didn't like and that's why they're upset, that in no way relates to them crying when they meet black people, like gurl... it's not hard to understand ![psyduck](images/smilies/images/smilies/psyduck.gif)

GIRL the person I responded to specifically said that the two girls were crying because maybe they have never seen a black doll before. To which I said you don't cry from never seeing a doll with black skin because its the same as crying at never seeing a person with black skin before. Which is the part that you emboldened and decided to argue with me about, THE BLACK SKIN PART. Do you have amnesia sis? I never said anything about there being more black dolls than white dolls in that comment. I was arguing how silly it was for that member to think kids cry because they have never seen a skin color before. What are you not getting? Let me help you ![psyduck](images/smilies/images/smilies/psyduck.gif)

Either they're actively being conditioned to feel black is inferior or their mother got them something she knew they didn't want just to use her kids for a race-baiting viral moment (I think it's likely both). Their mother is absolute trash either way.

I didn't watch the whole doll video, so maybe I missed this, but I would like to see a video where they gave a child a black doll and asked "is this doll bad/evil". Then add a white doll and ask which of the two is bad. I think that would have been a good control. Forcing a choice maybe forcing the children to have a negative impression of the black dolls that may not be inherently there.

Because you're talking about the negative connotations to the term "black" as to explain the girls reaction or at least why white people have an superiority complex. But as someone already noted above the only association black people have with the actual colour black is the word itself. She is looking at brown skin, skin like chocolate, tf that got to do with what goths wear?

So ****ing annoying. The way the parents were laughing, knowing it would elicit such response. Ugh. I bet they whipped out the "real" present afterwards.

That's actually a really poor way to conduct an experiment.
