Yes, this song is so much more than a song about taking drugs. He's actually comparing the high of a pill, and the extreme low that follows to his 15 minutes of fame. The low of trying to stay on top but not succeeding and losing all your friends back home at the same time. He's saying he felt all alone until he found his path as a more indie pop guitar type artist. He's basically saying that he thought he was such a big shot, but he was really a nobody and he sees that now.
I heard first the remix, and with the drug reference in the title, Ibiza and all that, I thought it was a good banger.
But when I heard the original and read the lyrics I was in shock. The song is blunt and dark, I felt really sad for him like you can't imagine. It surely has been a long time since Cooler Than Me.
