Edit: Okay I see that there is a discussion that perhaps Oceania is the real continent. Even if these ideas contradict each other, I'd say that they're both true.

Oceania is a geographical region composed of many islands (Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia) plus Australasia.

It reminds me of when Americans classify latinos as a race.
... It just differences of culture sis. Like we have a good reason why latinos are considered a race (having their own culture, countries of origins, the term itself is meant to be inclusive for these people) so it's not like a crazy thought.
Both. I kind of consider Oceania to be a general "area" as opposed to an actual continent. Kind of like how the Carribean islands are commonly considered to be "Central America" even though that isn't actually a continent.
Australia is both a country and a continent and a part of a region called Oceania. There are islands that are not part of any continent (New Zealand, Hawaii, Micronesia, etc.).
