I'm asian and I'm tired of the whole "asian movie, cast asian actors" debate. Sometimes it's not about race. Example, if Edward auditioned, maybe his talent in acting is not that good, but thousands of white guys auditioned and all of them are better than Edward. Should we still cast Edward because he's "asian"? I'd rather see a talented actor play the role instead of a crappy asian actor destroying a film I love.

Not when the original story is set in Japan by Japanese author/mangaka and the characters are obviously Asians?

But it is about race that's why asians move abroad to make it in music and movies.
If it wasn't about race we would have more asians on TV and music.

You're low-key implying that Asians can't act. While it's possible that there may have been thousands of white guys who were better at acting than Edward, there were probably lots of Asian guys who were great at acting as well. It doesn't make sense for them to cast a white guy for an Asian role, especially when Asians barely get any representation in film.
What is the point of posting pics of mtf trans people when we're discussing this terrible casting decision?
Transphobic and disgusting.
It's relevant since someone said anime characters are drawn from white people so this casting decision makes sense, which is probably the most dumbest thing I've come across on this site.
