Her only talent is singing. She barely writes, doesn't dance well, and doesn't play any instruments. Rihanna obviously isn't completely talentless, but she is the least talented major pop girl.

How blind you have to be to not see that she cares about money and being famous? It's not like she cares about writing songs, art etc. She just sings songs they write for her.
Where in the US are you even from? In the US she's a household name like the other pop stars.

That's because Rih was smart enough to realize she needed to have her own distinct lane to truly break out and become an icon in her own right. The rest of the mid-2000s Beyoncéitis casualties attempted to compete with Bey by being like her and just got steamrolled because no one was going to ever be Beyoncé better than Bey. Had Rih stayed with that "Bajan Beyoncé" image they were pushing her with in her early days, the same thing would have eventually happened to her. It's not weird at all when you consider that key difference between Rih and them.
But GGGB Rihanna wasn't much different than Beyonce besides having more current style and darker short hair. Her music was still Beyonce-ish besides shut up and drive. I think what set her apart was that she was prettier to whites (lighter eyes + skintone) and her youth.
She's definitely more talented than Britney, Katy and Rih but she's nowhere near as talented as Bey and Gaga (and Pink for that matter) but yes her talent is underrated

Developing a separate lane doesn't mean they had to become complete polar opposites, either. Rih did enough to separate herself from that pack of Bey clones even if there were lingering similarities.
Britney actually has a vocal range, can write and compose music, her dancing was exceptional, she is creative, etc. Rihanna is not more talented than her

She's def a better songwriter than all of them by far but she's an average performer, average singer, and I love her but she literally dances like a Sim.
