I liked the performance but I'm livid over what a horrible single choice this is. "Te Amo" would have taken Rihanna and Rated R to another level. They just blew it.

I think had this been announced as the single to begin with I would have been fine with it, but now I'm just upset knowing that Te Amo was sooo close to being released.

Well maybe its for the best because TBH, I cant even remember what Te Amo sounds like LOL. . The only 4 tracks that STOOD OUT for me was Hard, G4L, Rude Boy and ROCKSTAR so no problem for me!

IKR? I know 'Te Amo' has been getting plays for almost a year now, but it's still far superior.

And then again, if they want to change... Why not go for the brilliant and groundbreaking 'Fire Bomb'?

Rihanna singles so far this Era has been amazing, even though some of them underperformed. 'Russian Roulette' 'Hard' 'Rude Boy' are all new direction of Rihanna we never seen before. Something, "new" and "fresh". They also had a hot video. R101 isn't new, and I already can imagine how the video would look like = Boring.
'Te Amo' or 'Fire Bomb' could've continued the legacy of Rated R singles, but now it has stopped. I guess this is the final single from Rated R. DJ are probably released Rated R: The Remixes in the summer with the Photographs remix by Chew Fu as the first single.

Russian Roulette lyrically can be compared to Unfaithful = DONE
Hard can be similarly compared to Live Your Life/Run This Town (though not her songs) for its grittiness = DONE
Rude Boy can be musically compared to anything from MOTS & AGLM = DONE

I haven't heard a song from Rihanna that was kinda pure pop rock from Rihanna besides Shut Up & Drive and I still wouldn't consider that rock but just pop

you say rockstar 101 isn't new but te amo is? the only reason people dont want rockstar is b/c its risky since it sounds different than dance-poppy rihanna but this still sounds like a smash
