If Gaga and most of her fans (who are gay) are outspoken when it comes to LGBT rights, why does it matter if they appropriate something cultural? She's still made enough light of issues, more so than some actual members of that community. And she never said they created the term.
Mess at them breaking their heels at the chance to try and pretend like that video of little monsters didn't popularize the whole Yaaaas business within pop culture on a MUCH larger scale. Just because someone might have said the phrase decades ago doesn't mean that little monsters didn't popularise it within pop culture, like what are you even trying to argue against, the countless tv shows that have referenced the saying since the Yaas Gaga video? Get it it together girls and stop while your ahead
Not Gaga trying to claim a phrase that's been around before her career. A delusional misinformed mess.
The only one being delusional is you. She has NEVER claimed ownership of that phrase. She clearly said "catapulted" the word into mainstream media and she did NOT lie.

Proof that little monsters catapulted "YAAAAAS" to cultural stardom.
Please tell me where y'all are seeing that she claimed ownership, creation rights, or even credit for the popularity of "YAS". Oh wait, you won't find that because all she's saying is that her fans made it popular in mainstream media and culture. Not that we or she created it or own rights to it, but rather that we, the stans, brought it beyond the exposure it already had prior. And that's really not up for debate seeing as all the "YAS" talk in the GP and mainstream media happened to explode after videos of Monsters saying it became popular.
Black people may have used it but she's the one who brought it to CULTURAL PROMINENCE ie TV shows, articles etc.
She's right.
No she didn't. Gay lingo and phrases have seeped into mainstream pop culture, long before Gaga's career. What's next? Gaga made throwing shade popular?
