I am a huge MJ/Madonna fan. They are among my top five favorite artists. But Invincible was the lowest-selling album of his career and had no real hits. Madonna's only real smashes this decade were Music and COAD; American Life and Hard Candy just did OK. The key is consistency.
Basically they DIDN'T make much of an impact this decade, this was not the peak of either of their careers.
OK, yes, I forgot it was a UK article. Then Madonna would be in the top five. But the last decade has seen Beyonce and Alicia at the top of the industry, it was like Whitney and Madonna for the '80s and Mariah and Janet for the '90s.
Oh hush up. I'm not even a Beyonce fan. I'm just not a loon.

"invincible" was the lowest album of his career
but like i said,it still sold 7 or 8 million around the world
which is more than what beyonce's last 2 albums sold
and with no hit singles like you said. ![;)](http://www.atrl.net/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/wink.gif)
and "confessions on a dancefloor" had a HUGE impact
around the world and especially in the UK,which is where
this article is from. BTW i don't even know why you suddenly
switched sides because even you said on the 1st page
that beyonce wasn't #1 and is just in the top 5 ![huh?](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/7be5c36a.gif)

I don't think she's #1. Your original claim was that you could think of 10 other people who were more fit to be titled "artist of the decade." Now you're twisting my words.
7 or 8 million is a huge flop for Michael. All of his other albums sold 20 million+. He did have at least one hit single, just nothing huge.
You can't compare the sales of Beyonce's second and third albums (a successful solo artist) to Michael's fifth solo album. He had been in the industry for 40 years when Invincible came out--he was a legend. Bey has been in it for a bit more than 10.
COAD was huge but what else? I already acknowledged that. CONSISTENCY is key.
Alexz OK OK OK Madonna is the UK's artist of the decade. I am not ashamed to say that. But I wasn't arguing with you to begin with.

Is it just me, or everyone here has a horrendous memory?
Britney's success during 2000-2004 (not speaking of sales alone, I'm talking about tours, DVDs, products, general public impact, mesmerizing performances, etc.) really puts Beyonce's current power in a laughable case. It's like almost everybody here started tracking down celebrities after Britney had taken a U-turn in her career. When anybody mentions Beyonce now, you think of "Hot lady with sexy videos, power and she could shake her nice booty really well." But if you thought of Britney back in her primes, you think of the machine, the greatness & you know for a fact that the name only could sell millions of $. And even know, she isn't as huge as she used to be, but damn $150 million is fine.
Britney > Beyonce. End off.

^^ & ^^^ You laugh cause you can't accept the truth yet, you laugh but you aren't able to fight or to bring up valid argument to confront these undeniable ideas. I'm waiting somebody to turn to my post, You just post stupid gifs and call everybody haters just because you can go with the fact that despite Beyonce had more Hot 100 hits, Britney is a bigger icon than her and has had much more culture impact than her, even my grandma knows who Britney is and I doubt she ever heard of Beyonce...
Again: Britney might not be as talented as Beyonce, but she did had MUCH MORE CULTURE impact than Beyonce, Britney is an international recognized legendary icon... She just sold almost 100 million albums and singles during the decade, had top grossingn tours, highest selling albums, 2x Diamond albums in the US, 5 #1s (Pop), Top selling female of the decade, Most Top 40 entries, she holds multiple international records, has a star in Hollywood Walk Of Fame, She's recognized by the "past figures" like Madonna and Michael Jackson for example, her performances and some of her singles are a part of pop culture, and Beyonce is the artist of the decade? Well, in U.S. terms she earned more Hot 100 #1s, and that's what count? No culture impact??? Well, They gotta review some rules....
& ^ Amazing voice, talent, etc... This doesn't count when you have the impact Britney had to her generation, to the music and to the culture overall. He did not meant the decade was from 2000-2004, he just said that this 4 years of Britney put Beyonce's career in a laughable state.
