I do. But if waiters get paid regular wages why should i? I don't tip cashiers in supermarket because they scanned my items. I don't tip a bus driver when purchasing a ticket. They are all on similar wages most likely. I don't know why there's a tradition to tip waters. In UK they stick 12.5% service charge on you automatically anyway.

They most definitely do not get paid in the same way. Cashiers and the sort have a set minimum wage so tipping is not necessary for them. Waiters don't get paid the same way which is where tipping comes into the equation.

In American culture, it is not mandatory so you won't go to jail for it
You can get blacklisted though. I always tip because I don't want to be mean , but I have no problems not tipping if I don't have any extra cash on me lol
It depends on how bad the service is. If my food is a little late, I'm usually not bothered. But if the food sucks and the waiter is rude or is never around, I'll leave a very small tip (~10% sometimes). I've only not left a tip twice and the people were really ****ing unprofessional and deserved it.

It's not the customer's job to tip you to make up for what your boss isn't paying you. Tipping is for the service. So his examples make sense.

For me if the food sucks I will still tip because it's not the waiter's fault but if the waiter is rude or never around, I'm not leaving a tip at all.
