You people claim to know everything under the sun about the music industry yet show time and time ago you don't know ****.
A. It was pulled from Spotify because it was updated the same way TWO MONTHS ago it was pulled from iTunes, updated and re-released two weeks ago on iTunes.
B. When it comes to the MUSIC majority of our faves don't make much of ANYTHING. Majority of our "support" goes in the pockets of a record label.
So technically ya'll stan for Sony, Warner & Universal.
It's so funny hearing people say the artists are so rich in this TIDAL situation yet they have no problems putting the money in the record companies pockets with ease.
Using that angle to get people to use Tidal is useless.
No matter how the music is consumed (legally) the record label gets the lion' share anyway no matter who's streaming it. If I'm already streaming it for free, and there's nothing wrong with it, why would I switch?
With Jay's logic the only ones that actually see any type of benefit are independent artists who arent signed to a major label, if you are on a label they have to wait till everybody gets a cut before they see any kind of money, whether it's Spotify, TIDAL or whatever.
With that said, who stands to benefit the most? Out of all these 'partners' Jay-Z is the only one not signed to a label.
2 of those partners are artists signed to him and one of them is managed by him as well.
Their war with Spotify will penalize everyone. Why are they so stupid?
People are not here to listen one artist on Spotify while another one is on Tidal. Here in Italy every mobile phone operator is associating with one streaming service (some of them are private): Tim with Timmusic, Vodafone with Spotify, Wind with Napster and so on. This situation is ridiculous, they talk about competition but competition will be possible only when both company will offer the same service with all the artists. Then the users will have the chance to choose. Right now to me, the only obvious conclusion is iTunes or the illegal download that Spotify magically reduced until now. See Rihanna, no one yesterday knew about American Oxygen video, and here on ATRL right now aren't much users on that thread for Rihanna standards. And she will lost a lot of streaming points due to a lot of not official video that are already on YouTube.
Sorry for my not perfect english

Very true. I give all my money to the labels
Love ya Dougie and Lucian
I can't believe everyone is so mad about this. I think it's genius, they should get every artist out there to switch over to Tidal if they're paying more. The more users the more companies will want to put ads on it and Tidal could get a free ad based version as well.
I already buy my music but if artist start releasing exclusives to Tidal like Bey, Rih, Madonna, Erykah Badu are doing I'll keep my subscription.
It's brilliant until the Beats artists which there will be more of pull their catalogs from Tidal

Think about this logically. A label represents the artist. They own the recordings. They hire the crew including the producers, engineers, songwriters, etc. They pay the expenses.
It's not possible for the artist to get their money from music sales without going through the label, unless they do an independent release or something.
Similarly its not possible for TIDAL to make money without it going through Jay's company. Your faves aren't going to make money unless they were one of those 16 artists he gave 3% shares to. What little money our faves get from Tidal will be split between Jay and the others + the label. There's really no difference, especially if you already pay for Spotify premium.
If artists like Nicki or Rihanna do this, they're taking a HUUUUUGE risk. Especially if this culminates in them taking their music off all other streaming services as well - if Tidal fails and all but becomes a niche service they're missing out on cashing in on a rising industry.
I'm glad I don't listen to any of the owners' music. I mean, I use Rihanna for running but it's not like her music is one of a kind, it can be easily replaced.
Now I'm glad Britney wasn't involved because without Work Bitch I would gain like 20 pounds.
