But Taylor has sold like 27.7M in the States and 31m? worldwide so how is it seven? And country artist? Really? And don't Shania Twain was an actual global country artist so don't try it with genre.
What's more as I already stated Taylor is bigger in the U.S, but Rihanna's sales US excluded dwarfs Taylor's, those are facts.

About even, both are very big but both lack something....
Both lack impact
Taylor is still kinda local....
On the other hand, Rihanna is very big but she doesn't have much power....she still is kind of a hit-machine....
I really don't know, both huge but they have different weak points so not so easily comparable

Rih has more impact and is more well-known
Taylor may be successful and popular but only in the states

So we're talking about sales huh? Then we should probably include US sales too.. If we are talking about how global an artist is, we should probably factor in population and the market size of a country eg: Taylor is bigger in China and even though it's got like 1/3 of the world's population, it has high rate of piracy too so her sales from China won't contribute much to her "non-US" number.
The real kii though, is your statement about how she's sold less than 5 million outside of the US.
Fearless: 2 million
Speak Now: 1 million
Red: 2 million
1989: 2.1 million
I have probably underestimated the numbers too since some of them are old.
That would give you 7.1 million sales (not including US sales).

Fearless: 2 million
Speak Now: 1.5 million

That would give you 7.6 million sales (not including US sales).

What I really don't get is how you are going to bring in album sales then talk about illegal downloads and Taylor being hurt by it when Rihanna has unfortunately been the most illegally downloaded artist for some years. And to the inclusion of U.S sales, I'm not against it. Simply stating that if we are going to base both by the sales from the rest of the world, Rihanna sells more by a margin.

Yeah all you want, but that won't change the facts. Taylor's content is more pop than country.
And that 35M WW is inflated goodbye
Though my under 5M sales might be inaccurate, that 35M is highly unlikely.

Rihanna's best selling album sold 7M outside the U.S
Taylor's best selling album in the "rest of the world" perspective sold 2.1M, outside the U.S
Are we really going to dispute whether or not Rihanna is bigger outside the U.S.

Of course you don't because China has got its own pirating sites and they are probably not studied as much.

Maybe Taylor will re-release 1989 and she'll get some extra sales like Rih did
This is about overall career, not just outside the US. Taylor has sold nearly 3x as many albums as Rihanna here and more digital singles as well. Add that with her commendable success outside the US and it trumps Rihanna

Taylor Swift 6M
Fearless 10M
Speak Now 6M
Red 6.5M
1989 6.5M*

No, Rihanna still has sold more records worldwide, I believe Taylor is at 140M WW, while Rihanna is over 180M WW.
And I don't think she could still sell 7M outside the U.S with 1989 even with a re-release.

riri.
it's not all about sales, lol.
her impact and popularity is bigger, her music is more diverse, she's successful in fashion, she's more charismatic. i'd even say a better singer maybe even a dancer
she's far bigger www, taylor is still kind of local + english speaking countries.

A career is not just record sales. Taylor's sold way more concert tickets, had more acclaim, won the biggest Grammy there is, has won over 250 awards to Rihanna's 180, etc.
Again, Taylor trumps Rihanna.

Are you implying that GGGB:R sold 10m WW?
It's at 8m (8.5m at best) so that 5-5.5m.
Fearles has sold 8.5-9m so those 10m too Why does everyone feel the need to inflate sales when they're already impressing

Lmao drag them. I believe Fearless is around 9m but I've seen many saying its at 10m idk. I'd say 9m
I'm not sure about speak now though. I'm sure it's crossed the 5.5m mark and its been forever since that happened. I've seen no further official reports on its sales since then.
