2 and a half years for an album release is relatively long for an artist who averages one year between album releases.
She had a hit at the start of 2014 and flashed her t!ts at the World Cup. That's not a long hiatus, not even for her quick-lil-album standards. She still had plenty of exposure.
Not people running in here to pinpoint Home as the destruction of her hype when TTS is a better vocal showcase and catchier than FFS.
I can't say how well FFS will do because Rihanna's name carries weight, but I do think it's not gonna do her any favors in the long run. That's not to say it's a great song because it is, I just think she could have done something artistically credible AND bombastic to kick off R8.
The era hasn't even started and it's already messy. But, it's Rihanna we're talking about. All her eras are messy, and it works well in her favour. I have no doubt that the second single will restore faith & slay the charts. Plus, FourFiveSeconds is doing incredible and has emerged new audience/fans for Rihanna which can only be a good thing by the time she releases R8.

First of all, no. Second, rated r started slowly (rr #9) and turned out to be her best album. R8 is gonna be a good, COHESIVE album with Kanye at the helm. That's something Rih usually is lacking with her yearly releases. 45s has already done better than rr and is growing on radio, there are no worries so far this era.
