Were her powerful/soulful debut vocals influenced by Whitney and label pressures or do you guys think that's how she regularly sang up to that point? Were her Daydream vocals what she aspired for all along since we all praise that era as her enlightenment, singing like a coloratura and whatnot, or was it her just successfully adapting to her vocal transformation and an already weakened voice? I wonder how she would sound with having overused it so much throughout the decade or if she was never forced to shape her voice in certain ways. Mariah's voice is such a mystery.

Or how she would sound if she never had nodules.
Her voice is a mystery indeed.
Some people think that Daydream is how her voice should've sounded all along because she's a lyric coloratura but idk. I mean, the particular "lightness" and agility has always been there but it was during Daydream that the hallmark lyric coloratura soprano timbre came out.
