I do agree that we seem to be lacking those huge ass classical voices that just "stand there and sing" but I don't think there's a place in the music business for those rn, which is what he's trying to say I guess. Maybe he worded it wrong but I get what he's saying. A lot of music nowadays feels disposable, generic, and not quite as grand or timeless as music from the past has been. People like Mariah, Whitney, Celine, and so many others would just stand on stage and wow everyone with their voice. That's kinda missing from people nowadays, other than Adele (and Sam).

Nothing is wrong with big theatrical performances and catchy pop music, that stuff can be great, but I think he's saying that he just wants to bring back more of the timeless kinda simple stuff.

It seems direspectful to artists that put on shows with dance etc that their work isn't considered 'timeless'. Michael Jackson's work certainly stood the test of time, and it was rare for him to perform just stood still. He wanted to show his ability.

I disagree and I HATE the usage of the word "classy".

It's one of the main reasons I like Gaga. She could easily just do nothing and sing, but she respects how theatricality can enliven a performance and highlight certain aspects of a song in a unique way. The effort put into theatricality shouldn't be labeled as a "gimmick" because it disregards the integrity behind a performance
