Because, objectively, the song is by no means as bad as the haters are making it out to be. It's better than most of the songs (lead single wise, especially) that have been released in the past 1-2 years.

There is no such thing as objectivity when it comes to this kind of thing. I think the song is a big disappointment but it's not horrible.
