There was no way in hell Nicki would go top 10 when the top five could all sell close enough to 100k. The same happened to Britney Jean; #1 iTunes, #34 Official Charts. No one who had any prior knowledge of December in the UK charts would expect top 10. She could even go as low as #30, even lower. The week before Christmas is not the right time to release. Does anyone have BJ's midweek? Paloma is impressive.

Also no, streaming does not have a lot of impact on the singles chart. 23 is Shake It Off, NOT Blank Space. BS will be somewhere in the top 10. It'll be a close race for #1 because Ben has physical, but UF is rising on iTunes rapidly. #3 on singles will be either Ed or Olly depending if Up can keep up throughout the week.

Nicole's album was not released in December... you cannot compare a December release to any other type of release. October sales are way lower than December because people are not buying last minute Christmas gifts during October. It's a lot harder to chart high in December which is why albums have flop positions even with decent-enough sales, for any other time of the year. TPP will probably sell more than BFL.

Britney Jean did 14k at #34 last December iirc?

Anaconda was #3 but BB was #1 and it's a worldwide hit. Nicole was #6 and #90 (!) and ended up charting at #17 and people called her flop when it was obvious it wouldn't sell well. Nicki had hit singled but failed to sell.

Actually streaming does have a lot of impact lately on the singles chart Cheryl's Crazy Stupid Love was top 20 on iTunes for weeks and was always in the 23-25 during those weeks because of streaming. Ella's Ghost was just above it on iTunes and was like 8-7 places higher on the singles chart because Ghost was killing it on streaming. Just last week Fifth harmony's Bo$$ was top 10 in sales and ended up 21 on the official chart because its streams were **** so yeah little by little streaming is having a lot of impact on the singles chart.

Nicole sold 4,606 at #17 in October. Last year Britney Jean debuted at #34 and sold 13k in December. If Nicki stays top 30, she'll have about 15k in sales. That would make her at least top 10 in October. You cannot compare any non-December releases to a December release. December releases have more competition and therefore peak a lot lower. Nicole would struggle to be top 50, even top 75 in December.

I'm not even shading. People need to learn about the UK market before posting...

It has impact for the flop top 20 singles, yes. But not at the top of the charts, where Blank Space is. Anyone thinking it would fall from just outside the top five to #23 seriously needs a reality check. Of course it will affect the mid20s, because they dont have huge gaps in sales, but it won't affect anything in the high top ten by a large margin.

Your point is invalid. If Nicole released in December, her sales would also be much bigger and if Nicki / Britney had released in October, their sales would be a lot lower. Albums sell more in December for the exact same reason why, as you claim, they peak lower : BECAUSE IT'S DECEMBER.

And I've bought TPP so I'm not even disrespecting or shading Nicki.
