Wonder Where We Land is quite an event. Experimental and rigorous it somehow combines anything and everything into something brilliant. I love just how diverse these beats are with each song feeling like its own monument. Guest appearances from a host of very talented vocalists are welcomed greatly, adding to the excitement that is the entire release. HOWEVER - its quite a lot to take in and digest - I had to come back to it several times.
Its one of the most poignant and honest albums of the year without a doubt. From minimal R&B based beats to just straight up near-silent ballads, How To Dress Well has a way with words that is reinforced by his perfect choice of accompanying production. This both hurts and helps him. Its admittedly a bit difficult to get through his entire album in one sitting becuase it is quite slow but each and every one of the tracks offers a heartbreakingly beautiful look into the mind a musical genius.
I really liked HTDWs album but it was slightly too hit/miss to be one of the best (for me). The highs are definitely brilliant but the lows are quite boring and/or average. Same thing for SBTRKTs album. Except I feel like there were far fewer highs.
Love all albums you revealed up to now with the exception of Neuroplasticity which I don't know at all. The Jungle debut was very solid, but I fear I low-key overlooked it, honestly.
HTDW's album... I just don't know what know how to feel about it. There are some great songs on it, but there are others that fall flat. I think my biggest problem is his voice. I just feel like it isn't strong enough and couldn't really carry all the songs so well. The production alone is amazing though.

Oh yeah I agree. Production and lyrics are very well done but his voice/the fact that its often a string of very slow ballads makes it hard to listen to at times.
I listened to about half of "What Is This Heart?" last night and then a friend called me and totally threw off my groove. Really liked what I heard, though! Also, I love The Light from Wonder Where We land.
