Ok, for the people saying Teacher can you please state where you live? Because here in the U.S. teachers are severely UNDERpaid.

I remember one teacher making the case that parents say teachers don't do anything, they just babysit the children and he was all "Fine. Pay me like a babysitter then! $8 an hour per kid. 30 students an hour. That's $240 an hour for 7 hours. That's $1680 a day, five days a week. So yes, please pay me like a babysitter would get paid."

It's ridiculous people think that teachers should get paid LESS. @_@

Most ridiculous thing I've read Honestly for the **** they have to deal with and how many thousands of dollars a single McDonald's earns in just ONE day, they should be paid way more!

York offers a Concurrent Bachelor's of Education degree, which will get you an Ontario Teaching Certificate in only 1 year. It's such an amazing degree because I heard other teachers out there spend 4 years for their certificates.
You have to apply now though, this is the last year York will offer it. For 1 year, you get an OTC, and the tuition fee for the entire 1-year program is only $6k.
But the following year, they will turn it into a 2-year degree because the government said the program is way too good, and will turn the tuition fee to $14k for those 2 years.

That does sound like a really good program, I would have to consider it. I did apply for concurrent education after high school but I chose not to go into it because I cannot talk in front of a group of people . If it wasn't for that, probably would have become a teacher. But yeah I'll check it out and think about it.

Some teachers in wealthy areas are overpaid but the majority are pretty underpaid, especially in places like inner city schools.

Doctors have to study for almost 10 years inorder to get their positons and go through pre-med school which is almost 100k. They are certainly not overpaid.

I don't see how general practitioners are overpaid, when GP is like the lowest paid specialty in medicine, and I'm convinced that it's undervalued, in part, because of sexism, just like teaching, which is dominated by women. In the US, part of the reason why RN's are paid so well is because there's a shortage of them. There are nurses with more degrees than GP's and could very well do their jobs just as well. Plus, it you're a nurse with a PHD, then technically, you are a doctor.

The repercussions of not having a high paid, well respected teaching profession will ripple throughout society. I mean, look @ the US.
