I don't think they're boring...but some of them are back-to-back...which definitely makes it sound kinda of....stale and slow. They're great songs...but just needed a different order in track listing.
Damn. I thought the album would be all house. What's the point of putting basic ass ballads on a record with house tracks. I haven't listened yet, but Mary better deliver.

After When You're Gone it's like boppage after boppage after boppage!

Right. The uptempos are everything. Wish the ballads could have been a bit stronger. But oh well. This is still one of the best MJB albums in a long ass time.

I agree completely. Stronger left a sour taste in my mouth after she left off the bop QUEEN, My Life was ok, and that soundtrack album was just a disaster (with the exception of Suitcase and Vegas Nights). This album is gold.
I prefer My Life II over this. Besides a few fillers, the album is solid and some tracks are flawless.
Anyway, it's really one of her best projects since Growing Pains. Stronger was too random and unnecessary, while the soundtrack was bland af (I love me some I Want You tho).
The order is the problem. It should have been two dance tracks here, then a ballad, then a dance track, maybe two ballads, then a dance track... just not three back-to-back ballads, then three dance tracks.
But this album is solid. Not a Mary or My Life, but it's solid. Better than her last couple of albums, that's for sure.
