I don't mean to be offensive, and keep in mind that this is just my opinion, but whenever I see a Muslim girl walking around in a hijab or burqa or niqab etc. it just screams "oppression" and "fear" to me. Plus when they wear it so tight that it makes their cheeks pop out, it's just not a good look. And then there are those who look like dementors and have me running away at the sight of them.
Idk, just my raw & personal thoughts. Maybe I'm wrong.
It screams oppression to YOU.
Muslim women are able to take it off and walk out if they don't want it.
I know Muslim women who chose to wear the abaya and hijab and muslim women who chose to wear booty shorts and a tank top.
Yes it is disgusting? Out of millions of women, there must be women who don't feel comfortable being forced by the government to wear the Abaya. Why doesn't the government force men to wear an Abaya? What kind of gender discrimination
+ SA "not being the only country" to arrest gays doesn't make it right, and I never even defended my country or its laws, in fact, I've always been against dumb laws like the wife taking 1/8 of the husband's fortune after her husband's death, and each daughter getting half of what the son gets.
Well you don't know **** and yes you are wrong.
Non Muslim people talking about the hijab and the niqab as if they know how it feels as a Muslim woman to wear it. NONE of you know **** about anything so how about you shut the **** up and actually talk to women who wear the hijab instead of jumping to your own conclusions?? I swear to god I cannot handle western ignorance
!
I'm sick of the "women should not be forced to wear bla bla bla" most of THEM choose to wear hijab etc to cover themselves...

It's their choice.
Not in SA though.
Besides, we (or at least I) are not saying that every Muslim woman who wear the abaya, burqa or the hijab is oppressed or forced to wear one. I just think it's wrong that there are negative consequences of not wearing it.
How was justifying ANYTHING? He was merely stating FACTS and the FACTS are that people here in Saudi Arabia watch news channels such as Al-Arabia and Al-Jazeera where women appear without an abaya and without a veil. Only a minority of the people were "outraged" because of this incident and those people (the "radicals" and the extremely traditional people) are the only ones who watch this news channel, which is why they require women to wear a headscarf (NOT a veil, they show their faces, just not their hair). Wearing an abaya is the only thing that is required for women in Saudi Arabia. Wearing a headscarf and a veil is optional and mostly Saudi women wear headscarfs and veils DUE TO TRADITION, NOT RELIGION. Foreigners are not required to wear a veil or a headscarf.
!!!!!
Basically everything you said..
Some people on here lack basic reading comprehension;
can't see how they imply things I never said and put words in my mouth..
Also would like to add that my female cousin, who is Saudi, works at MBC3 (a kids channel which is shown in Saudi and which most Saudi people watch and are aware of, she's a host of several shows and also has her own cartoon) does not wear a veil, abaya or headscarf when she appears on TV.
Don't tell me it's Dania?
I used to stan for Dania as a kid... even went to the show at Chuck E Cheese ...

I've lived in Saudi Arabia for 18 years and I've never seen women complaining about wearing abaya or hijab/niqab? stop making up **** they feel comfortable in it.
You guys are going around saying they shouldn't be wearing it and they shouldn't be forced when its their choice like how many times do we have to repeat this? YOU are Arab, you should be aware of this like.....
I never said the laws against gays are right but you made it seem like Saudi is the only country who has these laws/thoughts or w/e when it's the entire Middle East...

I quoted someone who said that he/she saw women and thought they're oppressed, which means that person doesn't live in SA.
It's one country and they have their laws, no one is forced to live in it and I know PLENTY of women who left the country because they thought it doesn't fit them.
Every country has something that other people won't like, and if you don't like it be glad you don't live in it.

Complete opposite for me,
I have the utmost respect for Women in Hijabs..
I'm not even going to bother responding to you past this, they do it the same way some women choose to walk around in skimpy outfits or a jeans and a tank top.
Out of curiosity, how do you guys deal with their homosexuality laws (which I read include death penalty)? Aren't you afraid of being tracked down or is it only illegal in public?

I don't have sex in public so I don't really have that fear and it's jail not death.
