she is undoubtedly an icon and even if yall don't consider her a legend atm..she WILL be eventually.

She's a teen pop icon. I don't think she'll ever be a legend though. When I think legend I think a multifaceted person who has had a long and memorable career. With Britney though.. Let's be real. She doesn't have the best vocals and she isn't the best dancer (anymore that is). I feel a legend in the music business should have outstanding vocals, which Britney (in my opinion) does not.

they are legends. and i was trying to sugar coat what i meant to say in that post but since you asked. madonna and the beatles can both sing live and sound fairly close to what's on the album. they can put on a good show. britney, however, she can't sing. she DOESN'T sing. she doesn't dance. she doesn't put on a good show. a good show happens around her.
im not h8ng tho! im just responding to what you asked

I think to be called a legend you need to master at every category there is: massive and constant album sales throughout, massive hits that stands the test of time, massive albums who will do the same, get involved with your music, provide performances that will make the public and your peers talk about it, vocals (sometimes it does make a difference) and, most importantly, TOUR the sh*t out of people! massive tours...
Having said that, she is for sure a POP ICON... and a big one! she will forever be known as the inocent virgin pop girl who took the world by a storm and turned into a sex symbol... her hits impacted a generation and she made way for a lot of young girls to follow... and also for "anti-Britney"s to follow as well... she's a `POP ICON... no one was doing that at that time... sadly she lost that spark too much and too fast... if she kept for a while longer than I think she would have been way more respected now...
I would consider Madonna, MJ, Beatles, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Tina Turner as legends and Britney doesn't quite fit.
Say what you will but Beyoncé is a fit...
Beyoncé - the legend
Britney - the POP icon

All the other gurls from their generation could never touch them...

You have some true parts in your sentiments but the constant need to downplay others is not okay. The others have great legacies too.

So being a commercial disaster exempts the album from being good?
