I have family working for city piping in Toronto, so we also regularly test our tap water since we can do it for free. We used to buy big jugs of water but we stopped after we tested it one day. It's not that it's not safe for humans, it's just that the quality fluctuates so much and it is definitely not worth the extra cost. If you have very old pipes leading up to your home, you might want to be a little concerned (not your home's pipes - the street pipes), but you're still better off with tap water.
Most people are unaware that tap water is held to a much higher standard than bottled water. Something goes wrong with a batch of bottled water, you can recall it, contain the problem and pay off the victims. Something goes wrong with a municipal source of approved drinking water and you can maim a huge portion of your population and cause mayhem within your city. It's even more amusing to know that bottled water is often filled with municipal water sources and the company is under no legal obligation to disclose the water source with the customer. So a "spring water" bottle could be 75% city water and you'd never know... some brands already cut to the chase and write it right on the bottle in fine print. There's also all that drama with the plastic used to bottle the water, the production process and the environment... I can't see any pros worth the extra money.
I just can't justify purchasing bottled water unless I'm out in public. I do agree that it tastes better though.

Yes, Bottled Water is a waste of money. That's only when I'm at home in Scotland though were the water is safe and clean and awesome, as soon as I go abroad I always switch to Bottled.

Yeah. However my family boils it's first, then run it through a purifier system. The tap water is clean, but you have never tasted pure water like boiled and filtered water.

I know, I know I'm horrible. Especially since a lot of countries aren't blessed with clean water.
I just forget to drink it mostly. I try to force myself but it's not enjoyable at all

Yep and I don't think twice about it. I never drink bottled water, I'm one of those people that think bottled water is a giant scam and a complete waste of money
