She hasn't had any influence. Nothing she's done is innovative, all has been done before her.
Standing up for gay rights- Madonna already did that
Wearing crazy eccentric costumes- Madonna, Grace Jones, David Bowie, Roisin Murphy already did that.
Yes to a lot of what has been set already, impact on radio trends, fashion, MVs, music etc. in many pop girls who changed NOTICEABLY since Gaga arrived on the scene
Gaga definitely reinvigorated the industry with the importance of visuals, fashion and music videos. To deny that is just stupid. In the mid-2000's, a lot of music videos were really stale. They were often just people in a studio, dancing to the song they were singing, e.g. 'My Humps' by The Black Eyed Peas. Or the music video featured scenes from a movie the song was promoting, like '1 Thing' by Amerie. After Gaga entered the industry, it was all about the fashion and the music videos. EVERYONE lifted their game. The only problem is, everyone else's game is now currently higher than Gaga's. And the GP don't care that the reason music industry is what it is today, is because of what Gaga brought back to the table in 2008-09.
So I for one am willingly admitting that there is a "before Gaga" and an "after Gaga" effect. Including my own favourite Rihanna (despite the fact that Disturbia was very visual and that was pre-Gaga). That being said, I feel Gaga fans also need to admit that even though she did bring huge, avant garde costumes to the table, that's now gone out of fashion. The GP, especially the HUGE market of straight girls, want someone (like Rih) who they can look to for styling advice, and whose style they can love and copy. Gaga's best looks from this era (in my opinion) have been the sexy, simple ones where she's wearing clothes, and not avant garde costumes.
Of course dance-pop was all over radio, but the Euro-style electro-synth pop that was prominent on The Fame was NOT a fixture on US radio at all. After JD and PF smashed, a slew of soundalikes came out in 2009. Artists like Kelly Clarkson and Beyonce started adding electro elements to their music. I'm not saying Gaga is solely responsible, but she was the mainstream face of the shift.

Only thing I'll agree with everything else everyone is posting is just useless

Even if other people had done it before Gaga, the point remains that the other girls started dressing eccentrically AFTER Gaga. She didn't invent eccentric outfits, she just made them in again.

Pretty much this. And LOL @ Katy fans of all people "not seeing" her influence.

even Beyoncé almost feel in it: remember Diva music video; the fashion was too much; even I Am Tour book etc...
and Rihanna started doing loosely crazy things; remember on X Factor when the host told compared her to LADY GAGA at the end of her Only Girl performance she was so embarassed; I felt bad for her tbh.
Nicki Minaj; welp. people didn't stop asking her if she was tryin to be the black Gaga as late as PF:RR.
hmm Bey, thank God you saw the light again with 4
what was this btw Rihanna?
I don't think Video Phone is a proof tho; the video showed more Beyoncé impact on new comers than sth else.
