This is more or less me. I have both anxiety and depression, though my depression is more just sort of a general lack of motivation and anhedonia; I'm not sad or anything, I just feel blah all the time and I never want to do anything and I find it hard to find enjoyment in most things. I was recently put on Zoloft and I think it's helping with my anxiety but so far it hasn't touched anything else.
I really do want to get better but the depression sort of saps any motivation to do anything about it. It's a vicious cycle.

Take a shower, clean, or sleep it off. I don't think I've ever had severe depression tho.

All these things can help but I think ultimately you have to pick yourself up and make some changes in your life. Personally I'd be weary about using meds for depression as I've seen instances with friends where it's actually made it a lot worse.

I write songs to get whatever's caused it off my chest, and try to find closure if it's a situation involving another person. If not, I seek professional help. I've been at some very low points.

You'd know if you had. During summer 2010 I would wake up in the morning crying, cry myself to sleep again, wake up late afternoon to throw up, go back to bed, cry some more, take a bunch of pain killers, throw up again and go back to sleep. Every day. Depression is not fun.

Nope. it sure ain't.
I remember when I stayed indoors for almost 6 weeks in the summer of 2011. I never left the house. I barely left my room.
2006 - 2011 were the worst years of my life. I don't know how I survived.

I always meditate in the morning and go through everything I have to do and why it's important I do it. Music, reading, going out, talking to people is great. I always try to keep myself busy, not for anxiety reasons, but because I know I have stuff to do so I just do them.
Getting involved in school activities is great too. You get to interact (and possibly) with people who share common interests. Believe me, knowing new people helps you open up and know yourself a little bit better every day.
Take your iPod for a walk and feel the breeze.

True true. I had a lack of friends because of social anxiety and now that I have a few close friends, I'm starting to feel better.

Getting a job has done the trick, though I never had clinical depression, just bad days and so forth.

I can relate, sort of. I almost tried to drown myself in my bathtub in 2011. I woke up everyday and hated my life and was just so struck down by life. Couldn't focus. Struggling with undiagnosed ADD and social anxiety that I kept inside of me all my life. That's why i can relate to marina so well. Especially the line "I can't speak and I can't cry, cause I've been silent all my life" But anyway, I Became depressed. I coped by making online friends. I was failing a course. Went on antidepressants and add meds, they helped at first but I became obsessed with my school work because I had no friends. Now I'm numb. Weaning myself off. It's gonna be horrible for a few months but it'll be worth it once my brain heals and I can feel again.

Depression is different for everyone. Some people with Depression literally don't even feel depressed, they just feel tired, unmotivated, and withdrawn. I didn't even know I had depression until a doctor told me I had it. I've never had what you described, just a general sense of malaise and apathy.
That said, yeah, what the user you were replying to was describing does not sound like clinical depression. Feeling depressed every so often is normal.
