210K for Eminem? That's really disappointing. Even Recovery sold 300K+ during its second week. I don't believe that will be the case, but if it turns out to be true, it's really a testament to how poor album sales have become.
SNL didn't have much of an effect for Katy & Eminem so I have a feeling it won't do much for Gaga either. But Gaga is hosting besides performing and R. Kelly will be with her so hopefully that will be enough to get her that #1.
I think SNL will do more for her singles than her album. I doubt there would be enough people that would straight-up purchase the whole album just because she appeared on the show.
At this point Im content with these numbers because she has done no television promo this week at all. Theres a world of people out there who don't fact check the internet the way we do to get our news. Also, some people don't like it. I don't get whats not to like but hey, everyone has an opinion.
I hope she gets her 2nd #1 album. The album is feel good dope.
On SoundScan's Building chart (below), Eminem is No. 1, while Lady Gaga is No. 2. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking, reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants.
Because of how Building Chart is compiled, the rankings can sometimes be misleading in relation to what the final Billboard 200 will look like. The chart was further complicated by this week's off-cycle Monday release schedule.
No offense but Billboard sounds like they're in denial. They say the off-cycle Monday complicated things yet:

Even more odd:
Quote:
as reported by six major merchants: iTunes, Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Starbucks, Target and Anderson Merchandisers. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales.
Doesn't make sense. I see the predictions have fallen more. Less than PFRR, a pop album.
um but doesnt that mean soundscan predicts her to debut at #2? and since wednesday it looks like she only dropped in sales cuz she's not #1 anymore on US iTunes

This. Anyone care to explain?
Maybe a boost in physical sales? I can't see many people publicly buying a Gaga album in these times though.
