Blacks can be racist. Clearly racism against whites doesn't happen everyday, but nonetheless, it still happens. I've noticed that any subject of racism typically only discusses blacks (when talking about discrimination), but fails to mention any other race. Anything offensive with blacks is spot on, but yet if it was one of any other race, it would be brushed off.

For example, this issue over who gets to use the n* word. In a sense, that is segregation. To permit one race to do something and another not. "Oh, I'm black, so I can use it. But no white person can." - this is not "claiming", it's more like revenge if anything. And supporting this act is reinforcing racism in today's society. There should be no boundaries; all for one, one for all.

That's just my two cents. One particular race should not have more privileges than the other, but that's how the world works.

IDK, why people always bring up the "N Word".... Racism goes beyond the "N Word" or any other racial slur.

I don't think they have a real desire to use it. I don't know, I'm not white so I can't tell you for sure. But I'm sure there are many who would love to freely use it ( in a non-offensive manner hopefully). I'm not Latino or Asian, but when I joke around with my friends, I use their race's derogatory slurs.

Aside from jokes I don't really see any purpose of it tbh. But that's just me. I'm sure there are some other ways one can use it

I understand what she's trying to say, but she needs to stop warping the definitions of basic terms:

a) Prejudice is not "feeling of dislike for a racial/ethnic group." It's preconceived ideas of any group (not just racial/ethnic groups, but also gender, nationalities, religions, class, disabilities, sexual identity, etc) that may or may not lead to dislike for them. You can like a group, but still be prejudiced towards them. I think that's an important thing to remember. People here always use that "she's married or friends with an [insert group] person so he can't be a bigot" line when it's definitely not true.

b) Racism isn't just "institutionalized discrimination". That's just a very active form of racism. The word is just an umbrella term for any type of bigotry involving race/ethnicity whether it's explicit actions, implicit comments, preconceived ideas or just simple thoughts.

So yes, racism towards whites (and bigotry towards majority groups) does exist, but it's not as common or active, which I think she's trying to say and I agree with.

But literally no one aside from people on Tumblr think that's what racism means When it starts to actually mean 'prejudice + institutionalised racism' to the majority of the population, I'll agree; but until then it's still possible to be racist to white people, and it still happens.
