Hmm, I don't think these situations are very similar though. MTN ended Gaga's long run of top 10s and did awful compared to what she normally does. Katy isn't exactly known for her amazing album sales, so Prism not selling so amazingly won't be a sudden change for her. Not even her stans are expecting very high numbers from her. It's not a secret that Katy isn't an "album artist" or whatever.
But yeah, there is a lot of promo and ideally that would be reflected in the album sales, but we all know that, if anything, it'll be reflected in single sales.
Her label predicted 400k and that's the best she can do but we'll see I'd be happy with 250k+.Marry The Night had so much promo but it still flopped hard so promo doesn't mean excellent sales.
