Wasn't Prism supposed to be a "dark" pop record? Dr Luke probably already has Bonnie Mckee locked in a basement writing tracks for Katy's 4th album. I can't see it happening.
I can see her moving away from the bubblegum, but she isn't going to ditch pop. Whether the production is guitar or synth, it's going to have pop choruses to carry it on radio.
Her label isn't going to let a cash cow like Katy drop the ball. She doesn't have the fanbase to entertain non-commercial moves.
it's so annoying--what is a "pop" chorus vs. an "indie" or "alternative" one? these words are so misunderstood, it's silly. who cares what instrumentation is used? synth vs guitar, what's the matter?
