A media hyped single that has still done better in a year than the latter
At least Applause a) charted and has done much better than initial expectations its first week and b) still has done better than Summertime Sadness on the charts since its release.
Where exactly did it peak on the Hot 100? #9. On iTunes? Maybe lower on the top 20. Applause has peaked in the top 5 on both and has done better with its first month of release.
