Why would somebody hide their amazing vocal/talents range though? maybe just maybe she doesnt have it.

That surprises me. I thought they were revealing of her improper vocal technique ![@michael.](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/micheal_zps45ccf519.gif)

Like it said, "Nothing out of this world"
She's VERY inconsistent too. One day it's horrible, then good, then bad, bad, amazing, bad...

She doesn't have to do the vocal runs because that's not her thing. You stan for Beyonce and her vocal runs can become VERY annoying. Rihanna on the other hand doesn't have to do all that to prove she can sing.

Let's be honest runs are a koy for true singer especially. They let you breathe on stage swith things up and not be just studio version with live arrangement again and again. Even rockers do them. But it requires skills musicality and/or talent.

But she hasn't.
The vocal simplicity of her songs (and the fact she still struggles with them) may be what stops people respecting her as a vocalist.

She doesnt do vocals runs because she cant, her voice aint powerful enough to do them. I stan for a lot of artists, like Bruno Mars and Ariana Grande amazing vocalists, and I stan for Rihanna as well a good vocalist. Theres a difference

Her best is still just average. Once every year she has an above average performance. It's still ok, because everyone knows vocals are not her fort and no one expects her to slay. It's funny seeing the Navy actually argue that she has amazing/good vocals though, since they've tried to drag performances of other girls that were ACTUALLY vocally amazing.

The issue here is if she can do it or not, yes she can. And this is regardless of what other singers can do. We're talking about Rihanna here. Sure she's not the best but let's not discredit her vocal talent. She always sing with so much emotion that's why she rather hold back the notes. Her emotional vocals alone can be considered as one of her stronger points, not the screaming or vocal runs.

So, just because her songs are not vocally superior means she can't sing?

Im not discrediting her vocal talent im just saying she cannot perform rocal runs like Adele and Beyonce, Bruno mars. She can probably do vocal runs on the level of Ciara, etc. Her emotional vocals are great, but again shes very inconsistent thats why people go back & forth, but again Im not discrediting her as a vocalist, im just saying shes not nearly close to the best

Her songs display no difficulty. And despite that, she still struggles with them outside the studio.
That leads me to believe her ability is limited. Any moderately trained singer can do a ballad justice.
Her lack of breath control, ability to do runs, riffs, improvisations stops her from being taken seriously as a singer in my eyes.

No it means they can't be indicators that she CAN sing.

Rihanna has the most distinctive voice in pop music. You hear her voice and you immediately know its her. She's not the best singer bust she has A LOT OF POTENTIAL. I mean take a look at the X Factor rendition of stay and diamonds or even her latest Grammy performance. Rihanna is just lazy and for whatever reason does not want to perfect her craft. If she really took the time to work on her vocals and stopped smoking as much she would be really good. The foundation is there she just needs to work on it.

I never claimed to say she is the best..I also said she was inconsistent with her performances..but when she gets it right, she sounds great.
And comparing her to others isn't gonna change the fact that she has a unique voice..it's moreso her tone that sets her apart.
