The fact of the matter is, anybody with sense in their heads knew this was coming. There was simply no way GaGa was going to be pumping out the same kind of sales and press she was in 2009-2011. The novelty has worn off and music has shifted away from all the theatrics and shock-factor that was dominating 2-3 years ago.
The Monsters tried to act like she was going to have the biggest era of her career and keep the momentum but everyone else knew that was bull, hell even they probably knew that was a lie.
This!!!
I remember so many monsters using the "artpop's lead single will destroy yous fave's career" to clock someone!!!!!
Her comeback is more than disappointing.
A generic mediocre lead single is a really bad sign!!
*waits for "lady gaga never uses her best songs as lead singles"*!!!
I think people were expecting The Fame Monster kind of success (honestly I was expecting something like that too) just because you know, eveybody saw Born This Way as an exception and not as the standard for Gaga.
I admit that I was underwhelmed by Applause but judging by the rest of the material we'll probably get some crazy beats and fantastic lyrics. It's just everything surrounding Applause is a little lackluster.
Well Applause was not the best song out of her catalog. And her stanbase really made me distant from her music anyway, but this basically made it go down even further. Still looking forward to ARTPOP.
Yeah, I definitely overestimated the interest that there was in her music. I thought that after a long break like that, she would of done better and radio would of been more eager to play her new material.
Maybe because she never truly has given anyone a break from her, and she never really has eras. It's hard to explain Rihanna's consistency throughout the years, tbh. In most cases, an artist doesn't keep the same level of interest throughout time.
Her comeback after blackout was hyped out to heaven so yes, it is a huge disappointment. Especially that only one month ago people were so sure of her success like "she will destroy careers again" yet she bombed.
