I don't understand why people think it's impossible to debut at #1 now. I've run all the numbers, and all she needs is for BL to be about average in its overall points as far as #1 hits go (and 10 weeks in, that's very likely), and with the kind of hype Gaga generates she'll be able to overtake it.
Under what kind of rock have you been living for the past few months ?
enjoying life without online drama and ibiza music
Ok I looked it up and saw it's from robin thicke and recognised the music when I played it. I'm not good with remembering titles. his song among with beyonce's tunes are quite popular at the clubs right now actually. after a google search I also discovered justin timberlake seems to take some inspiration from him. other than that I don't know anything about this one.
I don't get why it would matter though. One of her comeback singles was already blocked so I doubt Interscope cares!
Except labels do care about that kinda thing. They'd probably lose interest in the era right off the bat if it did get blocked. Her singles have little to no longevity anymore, and it's been that way since after Bad Romance.
Gaga herself may not care as much, but Interscope definitely will.
BL will be weaker than what it is now when Gaga drops her single in a month. BL will not continue to be getting 3M+ updates or selling 400K+ a week. At best, it will probably be in the 130-140Ms in overall audience impressions (maybe slightly lower) and selling 150K-225K weekly.
Gaga will easily open with a huge number of downloads (and, I presume, a hefty radio deal). That will give her enough to overtake BL and debut at (or shoot to) #1 (she will probably sell well north of 500K). If she releases the song to Spotify and give us a lyric video, that will add arsenal for streaming points and, possibly, give her the edge to get the #1.
And where are these claims that RR got deleted because of Interscope?
Apparently, the week that RR was supposedly deleted on iTunes, it was the same week that R.O.O.T.S. (Flo Rida's album that contains RR) was released. Maybe his label told iTunes to delete it so that the album version could rise and, potentially, promote the album?
