Randy and Eddie, your votes will count for countdown for the 14th. Now it's AFI's turn to take a day off my countdown so they can retire on the correct day. Here is the countdown for October 13, 2006.
Close calls:
13. Aly + AJ - "Chemicals React" 2/R/8
12. Gnarls Barkley - "Crazy" 13/-4/7

10. Hilary Duff - "Play With Fire" 9/+1/6 (Top ten return.)
9. Weird Al Yankovic - "White and Nerdy" 12/+1/7

5. VNV Nation - "Homeward" 33/R/2@1 (Top ten return. Retires in two days.)
4. Cascada - "Everytime We Touch" 33/R/3@1 (Top ten return. Retires in two days.)

2. Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Tell Me Baby" 34/=/12@1 (Retires tomorrow.)
1. Cobra Starship - "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)" 34/=/18@1 (Retires tomorrow.)
Number ones from the past on this date:
2004: NO COUNTDOWN until October 28, 2004.
2003: Lillix - "What I Like About You" (Thirteenth day at #1, 30 days on countdown.)
2002: The Distillers - "The Young Crazed Peeling" (The Distillers retire on top after spending five days at #1. The video premiered on this day is The Distillers - "City of Angels." The term "pulling a Distillers" comes from the practice of premiering a video by the same artist as that who retired on the retirement day for The Distillers. This was the first instance of such a practice. I pulled a Distillers later for such artists as t.A.T.u. and Lillix. I'm planning to have AFI and Paris Hilton each pull a Distillers in the next few days.)

10-14-06 Cobra Starship and Red Hot Chili Peppers Retirement Day
Thanks to Randy, Eddie, Johnny and Steven for voting. Today, two special videos retire from my top ten. These two videos claimed the number one spot a total of thirty-one of the past thirty-six days between them. I'm talking about Red Hot Chili Peppers and Cobra Starship here. Also, I shall premiere videos from Korn and Plus 44 today. Here is the countdown for October 14, 2006.
Close calls:
13. The All-American Rejects - "It Ends Tonight" 5/R/7
12. Danity Kane - "Show Stopper" 3/R/7
11. Hilary Duff - "Play With Fire" 9/-1/6
10. Evanescence - "Call Me When You're Sober" 23/-2/4
9. The Killers - "When You Were Young" 14/+2/7 (Top ten return.)
8. Disturbed - "Land of Confusion" 24/-1/5
7. Nelly Furtado - "Maneater" 34/-1/3 (Retires in one day, but not tomorrow.)
6. Cascada - "Everytime We Touch" 34/-3/3@1 (Retires in one day, but not tomorrow.)
5. Paris Hilton - "Stars Are Blind" 32/-2/2 (Retires in three days.)
4. AFI - "Miss Murder" 34/R/3 (Top ten return. Retires tomorrow.)
3. VNV Nation - "Homeward" 34/+2/2@1 (Retires tomorrow.)
First up of two retirements is Cobra Starship with "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)." I don't know which retired video number this is since there were a few planned retirements after I quit doing countdowns in wave 33. It retires with 328 IC points.
2. Cobra Starship - "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)" 35/-1/18@1
Retirement Facts:
Premiere date: 9-8-06
First appearance/debut date: 9-8-06
Consecutive run? Strictly speaking, no because of female artist day and male artist day. For official purposes, yes since they were on every day they could since their debut.
Peak position: 1 (18 days)
Lowest position in top 10: 3 (5 days)
Debut position: 1
Most of its days were at: 1 (18 days)
Longest run at number 1: 2 days
Where the video was on the countdown since debut: 1,1,2; 1,1,2; 1,1,2; x,1,2; 1,1,2; 3,2,1; 1,3,2; 3,1,1; 3,1,2; 1,2,1; 3,2,2; 1,1,2
And now for the retirement of the fan favorite from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. This is the second video by Red Hot Chili Peppers to retire from my countdown and it retires with 323 IC points.
1. Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Tell Me Baby" 35/+1/13@1
Retirement Facts:
Premiere date: 9-8-06
First appearance/debut date: 9-8-06
Consecutive run? Officially, yes. Same conditions as above.
Peak position: 1 (13 days)
Lowest position in top 10: 3 (5 days)
Debut position: 2
Most of its days were at: 2 (17 days)
Longest run at number 1: 2 days
Where the video was on the countdown since debut: 2,2,1; 2,2,1; 2,2,1; x,2,1; 3,2,1; 2,1,2; 3,1,3; 1,2,3; 2,1,2; 2,1,1; 2,2,1
Premiere: Korn - "Politics"
This is Korn's eighth video to be premiered on my countdown. It replaces the retired video from Red Hot Chili Peppers. Nothing really special about this video except concert footage. I don't think the video is too interesting, but the song is kicking. Don't expect this to be a blockbuster video.
Premiere: +44 - "When Your Heart Stops Beating"
Is it Plus 44 of +44? They had it the second way on MTV. Anyway, this video replaces the retired video from Cobra Starship. The band plays in some abandoned building in this video. The camera follows a few girls in the crowd walking down a hallway. During one part of the video, there are girls dancing in front of the band's equipment. When the camera moves away and comes back, band members are there playing their instruments. Anyway, I think this video will be a blockbuster on my countdown. Mark and Travis of Blink-182 are in this band and that's what got my attention. But there are other blockbuster premieres coming in the next few days that may steal the top spot from Plus 44. One last thing, the tempo of this song as I've measured it played directly from Winamp is around 171 BPM. That's about average for punk rock songs.
Number ones from the past on this date:
2004: NO COUNTDOWN until October 28, 2004.
2003: Lillix - "What I Like About You" (Fourteenth day at #1, 31 days on countdown.)
2002: The Distillers - "City of Angels" (The Distillers debut at #1 after their previous video retired at #1.)

10-15-06 AFI and VNV Nation Retirement Day
Thanks to Johnny, Steven and Eddie for voting. Today, both AFI and VNV Nation retire from my countdown. I have premieres from AFI and Lady Sovereign. Nelly Furtado and Cascada will take a vacation so that they can retire tomorrow. Here is the countdown for October 15, 2006.
Close calls:
13. Nelly Furtado - "Maneater" 34/-1/3 (Top ten fall off. Retires tomorrow, I promise.)
12. Danity Kane - "Show Stopper" 3/=/7
11. The All-American Rejects - "It Ends Tonight" 5/+2/7
10. Hilary Duff - "Play With Fire" 10/+1/6 (Top ten return.)
9. Evanescence - "Call Me When You're Sober" 24/+1/4
8. Weird Al Yankovic - "White and Nerdy" 13/R/7 (Top ten return.)
7. The Killers - "When You Were Young" 15/+2/7
6. Disturbed - "Land of Confusion" 25/+2/5
5. Paris Hilton - "Stars Are Blind" 33/=/2 (Retires in two days.)
4. Korn - "Politics" 1/D/4 (Hotshot top ten debut!!!)
And now the retirement of AFI's first video to make my countdown. "Miss Murder" retires at number three with exactly 200 IC points.
3. AFI - "Miss Murder" 35/+1/3
Retirement Facts:
Premiere date: 9-08-06
First appearance/debut date: 9-08-06
Consecutive run? No, due to retirement scheduling.
Peak position: 3 (2 days)
Lowest position in top 10: 8 (1 day)
Debut position: 4
Most of its days were at: 5 (15 days)
Where the video was on the countdown since debut: 4,5,5; 5,6,5; 5,5,5; x,4,5; 6,7,5; 6,5,6; 5,5,6; 6,7,6; 6,6,5; 3,5,6; 8,6,5; 4,x,4; 3
2. Plus 44 - "When Your Heart Stops Beating" 1/D/2 (Hotshot top ten debut!!!)
And now the retirement of my #2 overall artist on Last.FM. VNV Nation's song "Homeward" retires on top without any known video with 265 IC points.
1. VNV Nation - "Homeward" 35/+2/3@1
Retirement Facts:
Premiere date: 9-08-06
First appearance/debut date: 9-08-06
Consecutive run? No, due to retirement scheduling.
Peak position: 1 (3 days)
Lowest position in top 10: 6 (1 day)
Debut position: 3
Most of its days were at: 4 (15 days)
Longest run at number 1: 1 day
Where the video was on the countdown since debut: 3,3,4; 4,3,3; 4,3,3; x,3,4; 4,3,4; 4,4,3; 4,4,4; 4,5,4; 2,3,1; 4,4,3; 1,3,6; x,5,3; 1
Premiere: AFI - "Love Like Winter"
This is my favorite AFI video and one of my favorite songs off of Decemberunderground. In this video, the band plays in some wintery setting. Davey chases after a mysterious woman. The ending leaves me hanging since I don't know if Davey ever comes back to the surface. By the way, Ronan Harris of VNV Nation got his name in the production credits for Decemberunderground. Also, VNV Nation will do a remix of "Love Like Winter" if they haven't already. AFI pulls a Distillers on my countdown just like The Distillers did back in 2002. So like it or not, you'll be seeing more AFI on my countdown. Maybe this one has what it takes to be number one on my countdown.
Premiere: Lady Sovereign - "Love Me or Hate Me"
This oddball video replaces VNV Nation's song. The thing that VNV Nation and Lady Sovereign have in common is they are both British and both make electronic music of some sort. Lady Sovereign sure got creative with this video. At the beginning, tetris blocks fall down to spell SOV and create duplicates of Lady Sovereign herself. This video follows the lyrics to the song pretty well, dead hampster, monkey, and all. This video has been blowing up the TRL countdown lately and I expect it to blow up mine if there weren't so many blockbuster videos in the way.
Number ones from the past on this date:
2004: NO COUNTDOWN until October 28, 2004.
2003: The Chemical Brothers - "The Golden Path" (Fifth day at #1, 22 days on countdown.)
2002: The Distillers - "City of Angels" (Second day at #1, 2 days on countdown.)

10-16-06 Nelly Furtado and Cascada Retirement Day
Thanks to Steven and Johnny for voting. Now it's time for the ladies to retire. I'm talking about Nelly Furtado and Natalie Horler of Cascada here. I also have premiere videos from Pink and Lily Allen. Here is the countdown for October 16, 2006.
Close calls:
13. Aly & AJ - "Chemicals React" 2/R/8
12. Hilary Duff - "Play With Fire" 10/-2/6
11. Weird Al Yankovic - "White and Nerdy" 13/-3/7
10. The All-American Rejects - "It Ends Tonight" 6/+1/7 (Top ten return.)
9. Evanescence - "Call Me When You're Sober" 25/=/4
8. Disturbed - "Land of Confusion" 26/-2/5
7. Lady Sovereign - "Love Me or Hate Me" 1/D/7 (Top ten debut!)
6. Korn - "Politics" 2/-2/4
And now the retirement of Nelly Furtado's first video on my countdown. "Maneater" is the fifth retired video of 2006 and it retires with 159 IC points.
5. Nelly Furtado - "Maneater" 35/R/3
Retirement Facts:
Premiere date: 9-08-06
First appearance/debut date: 9-08-06
Consecutive run? No
Peak position: 3 (1 day)
Lowest position in top 10: 8 (3 days)
Debut position: 6
Most of its days were at: 7 (17 days)
Where the video was on the countdown since debut: 6,6,7; 6,5,6; 6,7,6; 3,x,7; 7,6,7; 8,7,7; 7,7,7; 6,8,7; 7,7,7; 6,8,x; 7,5,7; 5,6,7; x,5
4. Paris Hilton - "Stars Are Blind" 34/+1/2 (Retires tomorrow.)
3. +44 - "When Your Heart Stops Beating" 2/-1/2
And now the retirement of the video from the electronic pop act Cascada. "Everytime We Touch" is the sixth retired video of 2006 and it retires with 269 IC points.
2. Cascada - "Everytime We Touch" 35/R/3@1
Retirement Facts:
Premiere date: 9-08-06
First appearance/debut date: 9-08-06
Consecutive run? No
Peak position: 1 (3 days)
Lowest position in top 10: 7 (1 day)
Debut position: 7
Most of its days were at: 4 (14 days)
Longest run at number 1: 1 day
Where the video was on the countdown since debut: 7,4,3; 3,4,4; 3,4,4; 1,x,3; 2,4,3; 1,3,4; 2,2,1; 2,3,2; 4,4,4; 5,3,4; 4,4,3; x,4,6; x,2
1. AFI - "Love Like Winter" 1/D/1@1 (Number one debut!!!!!!)
Premiere: Pink - "U & UR Hand"
Now it's time for some rockin' pop. This video replaces Cascada's video. Pink plays the part of Lady Delish in this video. Lady Delish starts out in a car garage. Then she goes to the gym to work out. Other scenes unfold. In one of them, Lady Delish reads a book entitled "A Suggestive Inquiry from Hermetic Mystery." At the end, she goes back to her house. She kisses a box addressed to Daddy Dick. P.O. Box 4125 Dogville, DK 03112. I assume the DK stands for something other than Denmark or Danity Kane. Pink plays one hot, bad-ass chick to go along with the song. This has what it takes to be number one.
Premiere: Lily Allen - "LDN"
This is not another love song. I promise. It's about what's wrong with London, England. This video replaces Nelly Furtado's video. In this video, Lily walks around London and the scenery changes behind her. Lily Allen has is not related to Aimee Allen as far as I know, but she is the daughter of Keith Allen, actor and member of the band Fat Les. Like Pink's video, this video also has what it takes to be number one, but only one video can be number one at a time. That means AFI and Plus 44 will have competition from Lily Allen and Pink and later, Lillix. Can't wait to see the chaos that Lillix inflicts on the countdown.
Number ones from the past on this date:
2004: NO COUNTDOWN until October 28, 2004.
2003: Lillix - "What I Like About You" (Fifteenth day at #1, 33 days on countdown.)
2002: Lamya - "Empires" (Fifth day at #1, 30 days on countdown.)

10-17-06 Paris Hilton Retirement Day
Today, you'll get a retirement and a premiere from Paris Hilton. "Stars Are Blind" retires on the same day "Nothing In This World" gets premiered. The second Distillers pulled in three days. Here is the countdown for October 17, 2006.
Close calls:
13. Justin Timberlake - "SexyBack" 4/R/10
12. Weird Al Yankovic - "White and Nerdy" 13/-1/7
11. Evanescence - "Call Me When You're Sober" 25/-2/4
10. Gnarls Barkley - "Crazy" 14/R/7
9. The Killers - "When You Were Young" 16/R/7 (Top ten return.)
8. Disturbed - "Land of Confusion" 27/+2/5
7. Lady Sovereign - "Love Me or Hate Me" 2/=/7
6. Korn - "Politics" 3/=/4
5. Plus 44 - "When Your Heart Stops Beating" 3/-2/2
4. Pink - "U & UR Hand" 1/D/4 (Hotshot top ten debut!!!)
3. AFI - "Love Like Winter" 2/-2/1@1
2. Lily Allen - "LDN" 1/D/2 (Hotshot top ten debut!!!)
And now the retirement from Paris Hilton you've been waiting for. "Stars Are Blind" is the seventh retired video of 2006. It hit all ten spots at least once and it retires with 195 IC points.
1. Paris Hilton - "Stars Are Blind" 35/+3/1@1
Retirement Facts:
Premiere date: 9-08-06
First appearance/debut date: 9-09-06
Consecutive run? No
Peak position: 1 (1 day)
Lowest position in top 10: 10 (1 day)
Debut position: 10
Most of its days were at: 5 (13 days)
Where the video was on the countdown since debut: 10,8; 9,x,7; 7,x,7; 2,x,6; 5,5,6; 5,6,5; 6,6,5; 5,4,5; 5,5,6; 7,6,5; 5,7,4; 3,3,5; 5,4,1
Premiere: Paris Hilton - "Nothing In This World"
Another love song from Paris Hilton. This time it's upbeat (130 BPM.) Somewhere in between "A Public Affair" (124 BPM) and "Everytime We Touch" (142 BPM) in terms of tempo. Nowhere near as fast as "When Your Heart Stops Beating" (171 BPM) though. The song is about Paris trying to get a guy to take out on a date or something. The video is constructed like a movie trailer and the boy doesn't look any older than fifteen. A lot of funny moments happen in the video. Did I say enough about Paris Hilton yet? What inspires me are people who can beatbox better than me, like Rahzel. Can Paris beatbox? I guess I've said enough about Paris. Can this video reach number one with all the tough competition?
Number ones from the past on this date:
2004: NO COUNTDOWN until October 28, 2004.
2003: Lillix - "What I Like About You" (Sixteenth day at #1, 34 days on countdown.)
2002: Lamya - "Empires" (Sixth day at #1, 31 days on countdown.)
YouTube news:
Let me tell you. Lisa Nova has some nice videos on YouTube. She even parodies lonelygirl15. I was curious about lonelygirl15 so I searched for videos from her. But first, I watched other videos about LG15. Back to Lisa Nova. Lisa can sing, but she sounds awful. Just watch one of her Teenie Weenie interviews. Perhaps some music really does call for an awful female voice.
By the way, I wish I had a video camera so I could make a music video for "Limp Bizkit's Da Biscuit."
