If I've pre-planned the speech and practised it for 2 weeks beforehand then I an really confident. If I am given a task where I have like 24 hours to prepare then I absolutely **** myself.
Not really, esp. if it's formal and off the top of my head and I'm speaking about info that I know or passionate about. But rehearsing and memorizing without practice I become a wreck.
PRACTICE is the key Lyzz. I used to have very poor presentation skills but one morning I woke up and told myself, bitch don't want to wallow in mediocrity and be like those poor souls who can't even spit one word at public. So when the opportunity came I practiced my speech for two weeks for like 58469215896 times until I memorized every tone, accents and breathing. It also helped how I 'studied' my favorite speakers and professors, the way they talk and project themselves in public. Basically my goal was to not just get the speech over with, but to surprise and blow them away because they didn't expect me to be THAT good. So when the time came, I said to myself, I'mma make this room my bitch. End of story I delivered the presentation perfectly, and I got rave reviews of how good I was. I was told of how I could be a professor someday and even asked to emcee or host a program to which I humbly declined and shrugged off.
