I am sure she could sell well that way. She would sell BETTER the traditional way. There is a reason why almost every artist (no matter how big) does it that way. It has been proven to work time and time again.
Not to mention that MANY people who intend to buy the album would skip the single entirely since they don't wanna pay 1.29$ for a song that they will get in seven days anyways. This would be devastating to the singles chart performance.
Only time when it would be better to release a week after the single is if the single is kind of terrible/flop. That way to can get your album sales before the public decides they hate your music.
