She almost didn't outlast her contemporaries. The biggest reason U + Ur Hand became a hit after almost flopping was because her label/management noticed it was a massive hit everywhere else in the world and that people in the US were still giving it good feedback. So they took that feedback and sent it out to radio stations telling them why they should play her. They FOUGHT for her. There was a whole article on it. I can never find it, so I always get Theo to pull it out. lol But basically, she's talented and pretty well respected and admired in the industry. She had people in her corner really rooting for her to have that success. Her talent just carried her the rest of the way.

Dr. Luke / Mac Max Martin are interchangeable for the most part. :scary:
I do think though that even though she is sustained by the same tailored-for-radio producers, that she gets away with it while still being seen as "real, and raw" in the eyes of the GP. That's something Britney or X don't have. Maybe it's cause she sings different subject matter.

If you shove the same thing down the public's throat, you will get at least some sales due to repetition.

Exactly. But even though it sounds like shade, it's not. Good for her tbqh. She perpetuates it by delivering "real" performances even when her songs are slush.
