POM was released when TOTGA was still in the top 5 of pop radio. It leaked over a year before it was released. Finally it is a incrediblely basic song.
If she takes a break, releases a completely new song, and the song is fresh and new, it can happen.

One must understand the circumstances behind BTW's release.
Hype and promo can only get you so far - an artist must also have mass appeal.
Gaga left TFM era on a very high note - people expected more smash singles and Gaga also had a lengthy break as well. I mean, any artist can generate hype and call their next single the next grandiose single of our generation, but when you're Lady Gaga, coming off a major success, then people believe it.
It will take another star who rises to notoriety like Gaga has.
You also have to keep in mind that Gaga's BTW only sold that amount in 2 days. Katy Perry came close, but she had five days. Even with a cushy Grammy's performance, lead single if you will, it didn't come close.

Gaga had zero competition when BTW was released. All the songs currently charting were not new songs, and nothing selling big since they had been around.

If the put on the right timing Katy,Adele or Rihanna.

Nah, Katy MAYBE, but I think the chance is extremely low.

This is true.
But Katy's Teenage Dream did have a lot of impact (at least single wise) and when she actually takes a break, she has a chance.

That doesn't matter. A song being new doesn't mean it'll sell or that other songs will stop selling just because of the new song. More than one song can sell.

No, she has no chance. TFM had impact single, album, video, and tour wise, which is what led to the massive BTW sales. A lead single from Katy would see what you saw with POM.

This.
If Britney performed it on X Factor AND released the video in the same week, the first week sales would be monstrous.

No, it proves that you flop when you promote 20 times less than the other pop girls.
And even then she was the 4th most played artist on pop radio last year...................

I'm hoping that's not an excuse for why the single sold so well. Lots of other songs enter with practically no competition and it's never stopped the older songs from still outselling the newbies. Besides, nobody buys a new song just for the hell of it, especially if they're not Gaga fans.
It's Gaga. Her fans/supporters will buy it regardless of what song is competing, old or new.

In the US, maybe. Sadly, the biggest European markets haven't got an idea anymore about what a 'Britney' is.
The record will surely be beaten sooner or later, the digital market keeps growing stronger and stronger. When a new popstar becomes as big as Madonna-Britney-Gaga and has enough hype, she surely will.

I just don't think Britney is AS BIG as her peak eras. Even with X-factor, I don't think she'll accomplish this, much less if she keeps up the apathetic track with the music business.
I dont think Katy Perry possess the "it" factor that Gaga has which makes Gaga much more appealing to the masses. Gaga is incredibly huge, both locally and worldwide. KP isn't as huge worldwide as Gaga and doesn't have the stan base to get those sales.
