I want 14 hip-hop songs and 3 pop songs; at least one by Dr Luke + Cirkut.

i want an all hiphop album for her next album so she can get back to her roots but maybe if she just steps up her lyricism on the pop tracks, I'd be ok with a couple pop songs. But i want HARD verses for the most part of the album.

The pop fans will be pissed if she does full hiphop.
Hence SS is #5 on Billboard while BITT is in the #40s?
I DO want her to work with Diplo

She free-styled almost EVERY song on this album. Nicki's a WRITER, she's not one to just free-style.

I can understand where people who don't keep up with Nicki are coming from, but they need to realize at the end of the day that they're completely wrong about Roman Reloaded. The album isn't her foray into pop, it isn't Nicki crossing over completely, it isn't about Nicki letting go of rap and becoming a popstar. She put so much of herself into her first album and got amazing results back so she decided just to have FUN with the sophomore set. She allowed herself to do what makes her happy: that being music, period - whether it be hip-hop, R&B, pop, or dance.

Turn the question on its head: Why do so many of you want Nicki to be some run of the mill "local" artist, that'll probably end up like Lil Kim and all these other wastes of potential?
The fact Starships, Turn Me On, Super Bass, Where Them Girls At and soon Pound The Alarm are her biggest songs BY FAR really mean nothing to you guys? Holy cow...

She should do something similar to Pink Friday in terms of structure. Lots of urban material with a couple crossover tracks.

You think so? Roman Holiday is pretty crazy, but it couldn't be any other way; it's a theatrical piece and it works for what it is completely (IMO of course). Come On A Cone only has crazy voices in the chorus. Stupid Hoe has a bit. Everything else — I Am Your Leader, Beez In The Trap, HOV Lane, Champion, Roman Reloaded, Sex In The Lounge — is without overdone/over-exaggerated voices.

i think she needs an album that mixes both hip-hop and pop something like "girls fall like domino's" "super bass" "your love" "last chance" and "moment 4 life". i think she bigger enough to do that now.

Outside of her fanbase, Hip hop fans will never truly accept or welcome her. Pop fans will. Rhythmic radio listeners are indifferent.

Why are you so desperate for Nicki to ditch hip-hop? Starships may be selling like hot cakes right now, but 3 years down the line it won't be remembered. Her mixtapes, Moment 4 Life, Super Bass, songs with real RAP in them and hip-hop are the ones that will last. The hip-hop community does embrace Nicki, but they aren't here for her talking about what Starships were meant to do. Can you cut the crap with Nicki going full on pop now.

Exactly. It might not have been smart on her second album. But Nicki is easily able to have massive success with a next album if she takes time and writes on it.

Why do you think that is? Just because there isn't as much money in it? Like, even Little Wayne still does mixtapes. She should do one imo.
EDIT: "Little Wayne" hahaha. My bad.

I can see where he's coming from, he's over in the UK where she's huge for her pop songs. He's not trying to get the Barbs riled up.

I will lose all hope and faith in Onika Maraj the day she takes your advice and puts commercial success in front of quality.

I think it was a bit premature but I believe that this album will prove to be successful anyway.
And even if this era ends with the results not matching expectations, at least she'll have learned a valuable lesson.

But when it comes to the second portion of this comment, you seem to be forgetting that Nicki began as a hip-hop artist with urban support. Her core audience was always the urban community, at least up until this era. They used to truly accept and welcome her, it's only now that she's doing songs like Starships that there has been backlash; however, if she were to come back next era with hip-hop material, I really doubt that she couldn't be re-accepted.
|
!!!! thank u KoreanDream
NICKI DIDN'T just pop up with some pop song and became a phenomenon.
She came up the true hip hop way, from underground rapper, to mainstream. Her URBAN fans were the ones who rode with her since MYSPACE They were a biggest support and she knows this. She even said most of the sales of Pink Friday came out of NEW YORK.
Nicki is accepted by the urban community. Don't let people fool u. Yes, people might get annoyed with Nicki but it's not like she's completely dismissed by the urban community.
Nicki is a Hip Hop artist at her core and nothing will change that. She SHINES when she does Hip Hop and has a gloss on her that is unique and her own. When she does pop, she becomes a dime a dozen instead of a unique talent who can't be duplicated.
I really don't get why some people want her to become a full pop artist. It's great to have a few crossover pop-rap hits like "Superbass" but that's where it should end.
I could write a whole dam thread on this but I'd rather just do it in sections :deadbanana;

That's not what you've been saying. You've been saying for her to ABANDON Hip-Hop and become Pop.
You always get tense in Base whenever Nicki makes a comment getting upset with people calling her a Popstar and not a Hip-Hop artist.
